Canon 90D Sensor Cleaning Options
Hello Bruce, I am a bit worried: my 90d all the sudden started to make noise when auto sensor cleaning while switching on/off. Sounds like rattling/machine gun. not very loud but clearly audible. It didn’t do that before… do you possibly have an idea what it could be, if it is serious and what I should do camera didn’t drop or anything the like. Thanks in advance, Jan
Hi Jan!
Sorry for your issue with a grinding noise on your Canon 90D when it performs its auto-cleaning function. This is definitely not a positive occurrence!
The 90D sensor cleaning function can be set to be done manually, can be set to automatically clean the sensor on every shut-down, or you can decide to “Clean Now.” The automatic removal of dust from the image sensor function engages when the power is turned off or when the camera shuts off in Power Saving Mode.
90D Grinding Noise Issue
I’ve never heard of this particular issue, so I can’t tell you what it is for sure, but I can recommend two choices.
1. Send it off to a Canon repair center. It may be an issue with your mirror flip-up or with the shutter itself.
2. Don’t use it. Unless your changing lens frequently, you really don’t need to have the auto-cleaning function enabled. Only change lenses when your chances of dust entering your camera are slim. Low wind and low dust in the air.
Good luck!
Bruce
