Tamron Digital Lens For Canon AE-1 ?
I have an Canon AE-1 film camera. I recently was given a Canon Tamron AF 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 XR DI II LD A14.Is there an adapter to make the connection mount smaller to fit onto my AE1 so I can use it in manual mode?
I do not recommend to use a digital lens on a Canon AE-1 film camera. Modern digital lenses are designed to focus the light rays perpendicular to the camera sensor for the best focus and sharpness. Film camera lenses focus the light rays to strike the film plain at many different angles.
If you found an adapter it’s likely you’d get vignetting or other lens misalignment issues. The AE-1 has an FD lens mount and Canon compatible digital lenses use the EF lens mount.
It’s great that you acquired a lens for free, but you have a huge selection of used FD lenses in the market that you can consider if you’re shooting film with a Canon.
