Canon EF and EF-S Lens Marks
Good morning.
Is the lens mount on a USM lens the same as a STM lens?
Hi George!
Thanks for asking if there is any difference in the lens mount between a Canon USM lens and a Canon STM lens.
The USM and STM (Ultrasonic motor vs. Step motor) have different focusing mechanisms. The mounts would only be different if one was an EF and the other was an EF-S lens mount. Watch my helpful video that explains the differences between Canon EF and EF-S lens mounts:
Canon EF vs. EF-S Lens Mounts.
