Canon R7 (R8) Electronic Level Display on EVF And LCD
Is it possible to see the green horizon line on the electronic viewfinder of a Canon R8? I can get the horizon line to display on the back of the flippy screen, but don’t seem to be able to see it in any of the EVF settings I have used. is there a setting I am missing?
Hi Andy,
Thanks for asking about viewing the green horizon line, technically called the electronic level display, on your Canon R8 camera.
I don’t have any personal hands-on experience with the Canon R8, but what I can tell you about my Canon R7 is likely to help you. On the R7 you can set what your viewfinder displays (when pushing the info button) and what your electronic viewfinder displays separately from each other.
How To Set Your Canon R8 EVF Display Settings
In your menu the “Screen Info Settings” are set independently from the “VF info/toggle” settings. This is a good example of how confusing the menu can be with Canon (and other camera brands too).
On the R7, there are 3 options for display settings in the EVF and 5 options for the display settings on the LCD screen. In the menu under the camera icon, select the 9th column and both the screen info settings and VF info/toggle settings are in the “Shooting Info Disp.” selection.
Hopefully, the Canon R8 is the same as, or similar to the R7 with respect to setting your LCD and EVF displays.
Andy, I hope this helps. Please let me know if this works for you. Thanks so much,
Bruce
