A report is floating around the web that Canon may release two versions of the RF 35mm f/1.2 or f/1.4L USM whenever it is finally announced. This is currently the most requested lens from Canon that we are continuously reminded about.
The Camera Insider claims:
A sales rep that handles some distribution of Canon lenses to certain retailers in a specific country has alluded to the RF 35mm f/1.2L USM, and went as far to say that two versions of this prime lens will be announced before the end of 2023.

This is the first that we have heard of this, which doesn’t mean it isn’t true, we just have no insight on the validity of the information.
Would there be much of an advantage to a “defocus smoothing” version of the 35mm focal length, or does Canon have some other plans on what could differentiate two version of a 35mm L?
On a side note, we currently don’t know for sure if the 35L will be an f/1.2 or an f/1.4. Both apertures have appeared in patents and we’d say it’s about 50/50 in what sources think is coming.
More to come…
